Scheduling

CMH Medical Transportation operates on a first-come, first-serve basis. In order to guarantee transport, it is suggested for patients to call immediately after making the appointment to which they will need transportation. Please call at least 3-4 days before the appointment. Transports may be scheduled the day of the appointment, pending availability. All patients departing from Fayette County must return to Fayette County and must be scheduled at least a week in advance.  Scheduling is accepted up to 6 months in advance.  When making reservations, please have on hand: the location of the appointment, pick-up location, patient/POA's contact information, and any medical information necessary for CMH to safely transport the patient.

Transporting

Please have patients ready at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time of CMH's arrival. At time of arrival, please inform the driver of any medical information necessary for safe and proper transportation. The driver will load and strap in the wheelchair with the patient in the chair, then safely transport the patient to the medical appointment.  When unloading the patient, the driver will give the patient a business card with the driver's direct contact number. This allows the patients to be able to contact their driver and know their location at all times.  Once the appointment has concluded, the patient or an office staff must contact the driver so the patient can be picked up for the return trip. We are aware that the patients we transport are typically in pain, and do not want to wait in a facility for an extended period of time. The driver usually returns within 15-30 minutes of receiving the phone call.  On rare occasions, things may happen that are outside of the driver's control, which can cause the wait to be slightly longer. The driver will try to stay in contact to give updated time of arrival as often as possible. Please give the driver a 15 minute window for arrival times.

How CMH Operates

CMH Fleet

Our wheelchair-accessible, ADA certified Dodge Grand Caravans are all fully licensed and insured.  The Dodge Grand Caravan is superior to the buses used by larger companies and allows for a smoother, more comfortable ride. For safety, each van is equipped with GPS and hands free phone devices. The vehicle interior is cleaned and sterilized multiple times each day. Each van is regularly maintained, inspected, and has an on-call certified mechanic.

CMH Employees

What separates CMH from other companies is that CMH employees genuinely care for the patients they are transporting. Management refuses to hire or keep an employee that does not have a passion for helping patients. Each driver does everything in their power to insure the comfort, happiness, convenience, and safety of each patient. CMH staff must go through a criminal and motor vehicle background check before being hired. Employees are randomly drug and alcohol tested. All drivers must be CPR, first aid, transfer, and defensive driving certified.
